Industrial / Visual Designer

Full time, Permanent

We are seeking a design professional with diverse talent spanning industrial design, visual design and user experience. You will be working directly with the firm’s partners and key clients to develop new products, help refine and employ brand identity and research innovative applications of digital manufacturing techniques like 3D printing and laser cutting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop new products that take advantage of digital manufacturing techniques like laser cutting and 3D printing.
  • Work with key clients to develop design solutions to business challenges by utilizing digital manufacturing methods.
  • Research vendors, source and integrate components into product designs.
  • Perform design for manufacture analysis to assess suitability of designs for digital manufacturing processes and produce production drawings for manufacturing.
  • Balance design requirements, manufacturability and cost considerations in projects.
  • Conduct design research, including new possibilities for digital manufacturing and mass customization.
  • Support sales and marketing teams with visual and physical collateral for direct sales and content marketing efforts.
  • Work with the firm’s partners, sales and marketing team to develop project proposals to win new clients.
  • Ensure that Hot Pop Factory’s brand standards are upheld in all visual and physical collateral produced by the firm.
  • Help guide and oversee web design work in order to grow and strengthen our web presence.

About You

You’ve got a strong portfolio, impeccable taste and know how to see projects through to completion. You’ve got an entrepreneurial spirit having taken on projects independently in the past, possibly as a freelancer or via design competitions. You understand the design process and are able to iteratively develop concepts into prototypes and final products with little outside guidance. Your verbal and graphic communication skills are top notch. You believe strong design work can solve hard problems and tell engaging stories.

Qualifications

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating outstanding visual design work and examples of completed projects involving manufacturing or physical prototyping.
  • 3+ years of experience with at least one 3D CAD package such as SolidWorks, Rhino or Fusion 360.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in the design industry.
  • High level of proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
  • Experience with digital manufacturing methods like 3D printing or laser cutting a plus.
