The last few months have been a whirlwind for Bi-Ying and I. We managed to pick-up coverage from almost every major Canadian media outlet. Its been the ride of a life time so far, and we can’t thank all of our friends and supporters enough for making it happen! Here is a little recap of some of the coverage:

Did you know that our newest collections are made so that each piece is literally one of a kind? That means, we intend for each design to be made into infinite variations, and we will only make each variation once. As soon as a piece is snatched up by a customer, we will replace it with a different one! So for those of you that got a little something for your mums this weekend, tell her that her Hot Pop is a true unique, just like her.

Introducing two new collections in the shop!

It’s finally here! We are so proud and excited to bring to you two brand spanking new collections of jewelry. Platonix is a fun and colourful series of geometric jewels that are made of lightweight and durable nylon. The designs feature dynamic clusters of platonix shapes, and is available in 4 modern colors.

Boreal is a series of elegant necklaces that features a never-before-seen material used in its pendants – 3D printed WOOD! It’s actually made of 40% real cherry wood and polymer. When it’s being made, you can actually smell the faintest hint of charred wood in the room! Both of these collections are produced so that each new piece has a slight variation to the last, making each item actually one of a kind!

And if all of this isn’t enough, we’ve also revamped our SHOP, which is now fully stocked for your browsing pleasure! Enjoy!

With 3D printing and computational design, we’ve been working on one of a kind geometries that are generated algorithmically, so that no two are alike. 3D Printing Kissing Booth Highlights

Just like a photobooth, you can memorialize silly faces, candid moments or fabulous poses of you and your crew. But instead of a flat picture of yourself, we put together the contemporary predecessor to the photobooth where participants can get a 3-dimensional replica of their poses from all angles! Add a little Valentines spirit, and the 3D Printing Kissing Booth was born.

We set up the 3-day pop-up event at the fun and fashionable Untitled & Co storefront on Toronto’s Queen Street West, and collaborated with Draft Print 3D for the 3D printing 3D scanning extravaganza! With the same equipment used for our Candy Hacking Project, we brought something that was done with our custom projects to the public for the first time. Participants got a chance to check out some 3D printers in action, get scanned for free, and choose to get their scans 3D printed as a statuette, bobble head, necklace or ring!

A big thank you goes out to our collaborators and all the awesome, excited people who came out to the event and shared with us a little piece of yourselves. We’re definitely hoping to do more of this, so look out!

3D Printing ♥ Kissing Booth

This Valentine’s season we’re teaming up with Untitled & Co and Draft Print 3D to host the 3D Printing Kissing Booth! This is a light-hearted pop-up event where groups of friends, couples and individuals can come together, strike a fun pose and have themselves immortalized in three dimensions. The event is inspired by our recent 3D Printed Candy Dispenser project and will feature live 3D printing and scanning each night leading up to Valentine’s Day. You can get yourself scanned in three dimensions with the opportunity to purchase a 3D printed miniature of yourself afterwards.

We Heart Handmade

Last weekend, we were very lucky and pleased to be able to join the fleet of top notch indie designers and artists at City of Craft This year. The magical pop-up market was filled with an incredible love for makers and making, it was beautiful to see a city come together to celebrate handmade. We brought our jewelry and 3D printer to the mix and was delighted to receive lots of excitement about our 21st Century way of crafting.

Thank you City of Craft and everyone who stopped by our booth. We loved your curiosity, excitement and support. Nothing makes us happier than to see the reactions of people who are seeing 3D printing for the first time and totally getting into it! Next time, we will have to remember to document it.

Congrats to all our fellow makers! We were unbelievably humbled by your awesome work and can’t wait to see more! It was so lovely to meet you, Kid Icarus, Team Art, I Love Puffy Love, Katie Muth, Love at First Blush, Selena Wong, and Rosalyn Faustino. TO, you are the best!
